The Hershey Company appears unconcerned about giving American consumer dollars to Al Jazeera owned CurrentTV. The action email for this issue was deactivated after Hershey stopped advertising.

Florida Family Association has sent out several email alerts regarding The Hershey Company’s robust advertising on Al Jazeera America aka CurrentTV.  Hershey officials have received thousands of emails and many phone calls.

Hershey personnel are incorrectly telling people that Al Jazeera does not own CurrentTV.  Mel, a Florida Family Association supporter, was told by Hershey “that since the sale of CurrentTV was not finalized Hershey would continue to advertise until it is final.” 

The time to voice concern regarding Al Jazeera’s ownership of CurrentTV started at the time of acquisition.  NOT AFTER:

• corporate America grows comfortable spending American consumer dollars with the Al Jazeera owned CurrentTV channel. 
• the new Al Jazeera program content starts airing and companies fear reprisal. 

The following companies stopped advertising on CurrentTV after learning it was owned by Al Jazeera:  21st Century Insur. The Hershey Trust is the largest shareholder of The Hershey Company common stock and owns Hershey Park.

Al Jazeera, the Arabic news cable channel headquartered in the Middle East (Doha, Qatar), purchased the CurrentTV channel which has the potential of reaching millions of viewers in the United States.  Al Jazeera is a mouthpiece for radical Islamists.  Al Jazeera America is the new, tentative name for CurrentTV.
