Florida Family Association launched an email campaign on November 27, 2023 titled  USC suspends Jewish professor who said Hamas murderers should be killed. 

The campaign gave subscribers the opportunity to send emails to four top USC officials which stated in part:  "Tens of millions of Americans strongly believe in the statements expressed by John Strauss regarding Hamas.  Millions of people have exercised their First Amendment Rights since October 7, 2023 by expressing similar sentiments.  John Strauss is entitled to his views and the right to share them.  Please fully restore John Strauss to his rightful position and status at USC."

Another organization that supported the professor promoted an online petition calling for his return.

The LA Times published a report on Saturday, December 2, 2023 titled Jewish USC professor, who was barred from campus over Hamas comments, allowed to return.
