In the wake of the attack in New Orleans, the San Francisco Police Officers Association is asking for SFPD to reinstate its partnership with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The partnership was suspended in 2017 because of pressure from (alleged) civil liberties advocates (including Council on American Islamic Relations and the ACLU).

The POA posted on X: "The SFPD should rejoin the joint terrorism task force to work with all of our law enforcement partners in keeping the people who live, work and visit San Francisco safe."

However, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) promptly issued a statement “strongly opposing” SFPD from rejoining the terrorism task force.  “The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American Islamic Relations strongly opposes any efforts by the San Francisco Police department to rejoin the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). We extend our condolences to all those impacted by the recent attack in New Orleans, but increasing collaboration with the JTTF will not make our communities safer – it will only further erode public trust and compromise essential civil rights protection.”  CAIR Opposes SF Joining JTTF - reports KTVU FOX2   

CAIR has never seen a counter terrorism proposal that it supported because of its close links with terrorists.

•    Council on American Islamic Relations' officials have been sentenced to prison and/or deported for supporting terrorism.  CAIR leaders proclaim support for Hamas and Islamic imperialism over the United States.  Read more.

The Council on American Islamic Relations long association with Hamas and link with multitudes of terrorists should disqualify any serious consideration of the organizations position on counter terrorism.

According to a 2011 report by the Heritage Foundation, the JTTF played role in foiling 39 different terror plots.  

Local law enforcement needs all the help that it can get, especially when major public events are concerned, to counter terrorism.  San Francisco is hosting events that will be attended by people from all over America and around the world.  Their safety and the safety of San Franciscans can only be improved with another level of terrorist protection.
