The Council on American Islamic Relations has blacklisted Stanford University in California for prosecuting Muslim students involved in violent and disruptive pro-Hamas and anti-Israel protests on campus.
The Stanford Daily published an article titled “Stanford pro-Palestine protesters indicted on felony charges.” The article reports in part:
Eleven Stanford pro-Palestine protesters who barricaded themselves inside Building 10, the president’s office, as part of a protest in
June 2024, were indicted on Monday by a Santa Clara County grand jury on charges of felony vandalism and trespassing.
After the break-in, officials found damage inside the building, while Main Quad was graffitied with messages such as “kill cops,” “death to Israel” and “free Palestine.” Thirteen people were arrested following the break-in, including one Daily reporter who was later cleared.
“Stanford is demanding $300,000 in restitution. The legal team supporting the 11 have demanded a dialogue with the University, but so far no response has been received,” Wozniak wrote.
However, Fox KTVU published a report on February 13, 2026 titled: Mistrial declared in the case of Stanford students charged after pro-Palestinian protests in 2024. The report states in part:
PALO ALTO, Calif. - A judge declared a mistrial Friday in the case of five current and former Stanford University students charged after pro-Palestinian protests in 2024, when they barricaded themselves inside the university president and provost executive offices. Now a new trial has been set for later this month.
The jury voted 9 to 3 to convict on a felony charge of vandalism and 8 to 4 to convict on a felony charge of conspiracy to trespass. After deliberating for five days, jurors said they could not reach a verdict.
Judge Hanley Chew asked each one if more time deliberating would help break the impasse, and all answered, "No."
"It appears that this jury is hopelessly deadlocked, and I'm now declaring a mistrial in counts one and two," Chen said. He then dismissed the jurors.
BareNakedIslam published an article titled: WOO HOO! Hamas-linked CAIR has placed Stanford University in California on its “hostile campus” list for prosecuting Muslim students involved in violent and disruptive pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protests on campus. The article reports in part:
For the second year in a row, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has labeled Stanford University a “hostile campus” in its 2025 Hostile Campus Ratings Report, released on Feb. 11. The CAIR report, which deemed the university a place “where institutional actions or campus climate make pro-Hamas, anti-Israel, Muslim students feel unsafe, targeted, or discriminated against.”
It is highly unusual for a college president to pursue criminal charges against Hamas loving and Israel hating offenders. Therefore, we believe that it is important to thank and encourage Stanford University President Jonathan Levin especially in light of CAIR’s criticism of Stanford University regardless of the outcome of a second trial.
