Breitbart published an article entitled:  "Massachusetts Democrats Pushing ‘Commission’ to Prioritize Hiring Muslims for State Jobs."  The article reports in part:

The bill is called “An Act promoting the civil rights and inclusion of American Muslims in the commonwealth” (Senate Bill S.2134 and House Bill H.3351), which would raise a commission of 11 Muslims who would advise and recommend hiring practices favoring Muslims to fill appointed government positions in the Bay State.

The bill would also go much further than just hiring policy. Indeed, backers hope that the commission would cajole the state government to consider Muslim issues in a wide range of areas from lawmaking, to education, to health care, business outreach, and cultural recognition, and would also have input on so-called hate crimes.

Fox News published an article entitled:  “DEI hiring boost for one blue state's Muslim commission initiative flies in face of Trump's anti-woke push.”  The article reports in part:

Massachusetts lawmakers are taking steps toward prioritizing the hiring of American Muslims for state government positions under a permanent so-called Muslim commission.

The group would help recommend Americans who practice Islam to appointed government positions in the New England state at the same time the Trump administration is moving to dismantle such diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs nationwide — teeing-up a standoff between local leaders and the president.

A proposed bill would create a panel of 11 Muslims appointed by Democratic Gov. Maura Healey and other state officials to represent the Islamic faith on issues such as business, economy, healthcare and other concerns.

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) is pushing the legislation.

The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution:  Section 1 states that no state shall "deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws".  Massachusetts Bill S. 2134 gives unequal protection in employment to Muslims.

Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, employers with 15 or more employees cannot fire, refuse to hire, or treat workers unfairly because of their religious beliefs.  Massachusetts Bill S. 2134 discriminates against all other religions.

Like everyone else, Muslims’ employment rights are protected by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Fourteenth Amendment.   

But unlike everyone else Massachusetts may give Muslims a powerful committee that will out flank, out rank and diminish the employment opportunities for non-Muslims.

Establishing a superior legal status for one group of people is a dangerous proposition that threatens the rights and opportunities of every American.

If Massachusetts approves this legislation Florida Family Association plans to launch an online campaign to urge the United Sates Department of Justice Civil Rights division to investigate and bring appropriate charges.

Massachusetts Bill S. 2134 entitled “An Act promoting the civil rights and inclusion of American Muslims in the commonwealth” is sitting in the Democrat controlled Senate Ways and Means.
