Denny's stops advertising on Al Jazeera America.  More positive reports are on the way.

The week of March 24 through March 30 was a great week for advertisers dropping off of the Al Jazeera America channel.  Several companies informed Florida Family Association of their intentions to stop advertising on Al Jazeera America.  Several other companies’ advertisements vanished from the channel all week.  Florida Family Association is verifying the removal of ads by the companies that communicated the same before reporting them.  The other companies will be reported after adequate time has passed since their last advertisements aired. 

Florida Family Association tapes ten hours of programing on Al Jazeera America every day.  The Florida Family Association office communicates with each advertiser on Al Jazeera America no less than once per week.  Top advertisers are strategically featured one at a time because there are so few of them.

Thank you for your recent letter.  

Firstly, let me say, Denny’s is a family restaurant that serves as a welcoming and open gathering place for all guests in the communities where we operate across the country and around the world.  

We did want to take this opportunity to address your letter and set this straight. Denny’s does not have an advertising buy in place for CurrentTV.  We recently learned that an advertisement inadvertently aired a couple days ago as the result of a package buy across various cable channels. We expect that this was a one-time occurrence.

Denny's advertisements stopped airing on Al Jazeera America on March 21, 2013.  Denny's did not require thousands of emails from Florida Family Association supporters before pulling their ads.  The company pulled their advertising after receiving the first email from the Florida Family Association office.

Florida Family Association sent out an email alert on January 14, 2013 which reported that Al Jazeera, the Arabic news cable channel headquartered in the Middle East (Doha, Qatar), purchased the CurrentTV channel which has the potential of reaching millions of viewers in the United States.   Al Jazeera America is the new, tentative name for CurrentTV.  Al Jazeera is the mouthpiece for the radical Islamist movement.  Nothing less should be expected to come from Al Jazeera’s broadcasting to cable viewers in America.

Since there are so few mainstream advertisers on Al Jazeera America and very few new advertisers, Florida Family Association plans to deal with the individual companies instead of grouping them together.  Americans, true Americans, need to know which companies are supporting Al Jazeera America.  Profiling each top advertiser one at a time accomplishes that educational need.
