Breitbart reports: Covington Catholic High School Cancels Classes Over Safety Concerns.
Initial video of a confrontation between Covington Catholic High School junior Nick Sandmann and Native American activist Nathan Phillips created a firestorm on social media, with media pundits from across the political spectrum accusing the student of disrespecting the man. Sandmann is seen grinning in a red Make America Great Again hat while simply standing in front of Phillips, an elder with the Omaha tribe. Several students could be seen laughing and making hand gestures believed to be mocking Phillips.
Yet, subsequent videos show that the students were not only approached by Philips first, but were verbally accosted by a religious group, Black Hebrew Israelites, which have been labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group.
In a pair of tweets, President Trump defended the students, stating that they had been unfairly treated by the media and expressed hope that the incident could be used to bring Americans together. “Looking like Nick Sandman & Covington Catholic students were treated unfairly with early judgements proving out to be false – smeared by media. Not good, but making big comeback!” the president tweeted.
The false and vitriolic reports by the leftist, God-hating media are inspiring hate that could turn to violence. And while Twitter allows CAIR to provide input on the Christian and conservative organizations Twitter should censor, Twitter continues to allow many of its users to post hateful messages targeting Covington Catholic High School using deceitful information. Amee Vanderpool’s Twitter post states: Here are Covington Catholic School kids harassing a Native American elder. Their mission is to "embrace the gospel message of Jesus Christ in order to educate students spiritually." https://www.covcath.org/about You might want to contact them to tell them they're failing miserably.
Thus far, the principal of the school has not yielded to pressure from the leftist media to apologize for the students.
However, the Diocese of Covington has yet to properly defend the students. The American Conservative reports in part: If the students hadn’t been wearing MAGA gear, this would not be a national news story. Yet the children’s church felt the need to condemn its own members. Their diocese sent out a bunch of “not our values” PR crap. Why didn’t they wait to get all the facts? The unedited two hour video shows a group of immature kids caught in a bizarre situation. And it raises the great question of our age: where the hell are the adults? The Diocese claims to be investigating but its response thus far is disappointing.
Florida Family Association has prepared an email for you to send to show your support for the students to Covington Catholic High School officials. The Diocese of Covington would have been included in the email but unlike the school it is blocking emails from the Florida Family Association action email server.
