2013 Florida Family Association Achievements
Influenced 138 out of 146 companies to stop advertising on Al Jazeera America. Al Jazeera, the Arabic news channel headquartered in the Middle East (Doha, Qatar), purchased the CurrentTV channel at the end of 2012 giving it the potential of reaching millions of viewers in the United States. Al Jazeera is a news company that is owned by a non-democratic, monarch styled emirate who does not afford citizens freedom of the press. The emirate espouses Islamic Sharia law, backs the head of Hamas and supports the Muslim Brotherhood. Florida Family Association launched online campaigns where supporters sent emails to companies that continued to advertise after receiving communications from the Florida Family Association office. Those campaigns influenced the following companies to stop advertising on Al Jazeera America: ADT, AIG, Chrysler Corporation (Dodge Dart, Fiat), Darden Restaurants (Red Lobster), E-Trade, Foster Grant, Hershey, Kia, Neat Company, Nestle (Gerber Life), P & G, Reckitt Benckiser, plc, Reputation.com, and Vonage. No Fortune 1000 companies have advertised on the channel after October 6, 2013.
Effectively urged five hoteliers to stop allowing their facilities to be used by Islamist political groups to advance their agenda. Florida Family Association launched email campaigns that challenged five host companies to stop allowing Sharia advocating, Islamist organizations from using their conference facilities to advance their agenda. The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) held conferences on June 15, 2013 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Dallas Near the Galleria and on June 29, 2013 at the Sheraton Tampa East. Cathedral Hills Associates owns the Doubletree by Hilton in Dallas. The Sheraton Tampa East is owned by Starwood. The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) held a banquet on September 28, 2013, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia. The Crystal Gateway Marriott is owned by Marriott International. The Council on American Islamic Relations of Arizona (CAIR-AZ) held their “Second Annual Faith in Freedom Banquet” on November 9, 2013 at the Hilton Phoenix/Mesa. Quorum owns the Hilton Phoenix/Mesa. The Council on American Islamic Relations of California (CAIR-LA) held their “Faith in Freedom Banquet” on November 16, 2013 at the Anaheim Hilton in Anaheim, CA. The Anaheim Hilton is owned by Hilton Worldwide. Hospitality Trust’s 113 properties may not cater to Islamists in the future as they did with Islamic Society of North America’s Sharia law conference in Tampa. The hotelier has not been found to have catered to similar organizations since the May 2012 event following a Floridafamily.org online campaign. Post event online campaigns continue at Floridafamily.org where visitors send emails to encourage these hoteliers to consider their concerns regarding the booking of similar events in the future. These email campaigns not only voice concern about this important issue but they also educate corporate officials with the facts regarding Islamization in America.
Influenced Wells Fargo logo to be removed as a sponsor from CAIR-LA online banquet promotion. Florida Family Association sent out an email alert on October 8, 2013 which reported that Wells Fargo was shown as the only Non-Islamic sponsor of the CAIR-LA banquet. Thousands of concerned consumers emailed and called Wells Fargo officers and directors. The Wells Fargo logo was removed from the CAIR-LA online banquet promotional brochure on October 9, 2013. This is a victory in that Wells Fargo does not want to publicly associate with CAIR as a banquet sponsor.
Successfully challenged Dish Network’s public support as a sponsor of major convention of Sharia advocating, Muslim Brotherhood linked, Islamist groups. Dish Network was the only non-Islamic organization that appeared as a sponsor of the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) convention titled “Toward a Renaissance: believe, act & engage” held December 21-25, 2012 at the Sheraton Downtown Chicago. “Renaissance” means Islamist dogma based upon the conference statement “The Arab Spring associated with the Islamic Awakening in many parts of the Muslim world.” Dish Network has not shown up as a sponsor of Islamist events since Florida Family Association’s online campaign regarding this issue.
Influenced mainstream family attendance at Disney World during Gay Day 2013 to DROP. Florida Family Association hired three aircraft to pull banners for 40 total hours the day before and the day of Gay Day. The banners warned tens of thousands of families about the offensive event in the Disney World on June 1, 2013. Thousands of LGBT (Lesbians, Gays, Bi-Sexuals, Transgenders) converge on the Disney World the first Saturday of every June to demonstrate their homosexual affection to a captured audience of children with the mission of using their large numbers to legitimize their lifestyle. Florida Family Association estimated that attendance by mainstream families was down approximately 25% to 30% over the average attendance of the last ten years. This warning spared thousands of children from the unexpected exposure to this coming out spectacle.
Countered Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way” tour with aircraft banners stating “Not Born This Way.” Florida Family Association paid Aerial Messages to fly a banner that stated “NOT BORN THIS WAY” on January 14, 2013 around the Tacoma Dome and January 31, 2013 around the Houston Texas Toyota Center. These banners flew for several hours before the Lady Gaga performances started at those locations. The Tacoma Washington show was Gaga’s first “Born this Way” event in the United States. Florida Family Association told CBS News, Huffington Post, Tacoma News Tribune and other news organizations that reported on the banner that Gaga could be responsible for influencing many youth to accept a homosexual lifestyle who would have eventually otherwise matured as a heterosexual. The Born Brave bus promotion vanished from Gaga’s blog just days after the banners were flown. Additionally, Lady Gaga cancelled her tour because of her alleged broken hip.
Initiated online campaign to urge the Disney Channel not to add first homosexual parents to their network which is watched predominantly by children. The Disney Channel announced plans in the summer of 2013 to add a family with two moms to the last episode of the last series of Good Luck Charlie. Bizpacreview.com reports in part: The LGBT lobby has been pressuring Disney lately to feature characters from its community in family-oriented programming. Once again LGBT activists are pushing their agenda on Disney. However, it appears from the choices that the Disney Channel made that they are reluctant to include homosexual characters on a regular basis. Disney made the decision that these characters will only have one episode which is the last episode of the last series. Florida Family Association initiated an online campaign where concerned parents send emails asking Disney officials to please place the welfare of our children over the agenda of LGBT activists.
Opposed bills filed during the 2013 Florida Legislative Session that pushed the homosexual agenda. Florida Family Association vigorously opposed SB 196 entitled Domestic Partnerships that was being pushed in the Florida Senate Children, Families, and Elder Affairs committee. This bill essentially sought to legalize homosexual marriage in Florida. The SB 196 house companion bill and HB 239 and SB 348 which sought to add “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” as classes to Florida’s discrimination laws were not heard in committee.
Fought for the passage of America Laws for America Courts legislation in 2013 Florida Legislative Session. This legislation would have prohibited Florida Courts from considering certain provisions of foreign law, including Sharia law, if they were in conflict with the United States or Florida Constitutions. The legislation was approved by the Florida House of Representatives. However, the legislation failed to pass the Florida Senate because of Democratic Senators who blocked it on procedural grounds.
Influenced BP to require independent retailers of their gasoline to stop selling explicit pornography. Florida Family Association influenced 12 Major Oil companies to adopt marketing agreement restrictions which prohibit about 100,000 retail locations from selling pornography. These restrictions and the contact information for each company are posted at Floridafamily.org. BP enforced their contract terms during 2013 at stores in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Portage, Wisconsin.
Supporters sent approximately 10 million emails to various officials in response to Florida Family Association email alert campaigns during 2013. Tens of thousands of emails each week educated corporate officials on important issues and influenced their policies.
Was labeled a top Islamophobe in America by CAIR. The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) issued their Islamophobe report on September 19, 2013. As expected, the report, as it relates to Florida Family Association, Inc., was long on name calling and short on the facts.
