It is truly disastrous that all GOP Senators cannot unite to protect Americans from harm, both foreign and domestic, while Democrat Senators unanimously favor criminal illegal aliens over American citizens by demanding an open border and zero deportations.

CNN published an article titled Senate unanimously moves to fund most of DHS, except ICE and border patrol, in rare overnight session.  The article reports in part:

The Senate unanimously moved to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security, except for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and part of Customs and Border Protection, in a rare overnight session.

What is “rare” about this late night bill is that it passed by “unanimous consent.”  This means that as long a no senator opposed the bill it would pass.

President Trump publicly voiced frustration with the Senate-passed bill Friday afternoon.  “You can’t have a bill that’s not going to fund – in my opinion, you can’t have a bill that’s not going to fund ICE. You can’t have a bill that’s not going to fund any form of law enforcement, of which ICE is a big form, and so is Border Patrol,” he told Fox News.

House Speaker Johnson Mike Johnson said Friday morning “This gambit that was done last night is a joke.” He blamed Senate Democrats rather than Thune.  “I told him (Thune), it shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody that we would not be able to do that,” Johnson said late Friday night, after the House vote. “We’re not going to split apart two of the most important agencies in the government and leave them hanging like that. We just couldn’t do it.”

The House voted 213-203, with three Democrats voting yes, on Friday, March 27, 2026, to fully funding DHS for eight weeks including with border and immigration money that the senate deal left out.

The Senate held a pro-forma session on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10:30 am ET to consider the bill passed Friday by the House to fully fund DHS.  This Senate pro-forma session had the opportunity to pass the House bill by “unanimous consent” like the Senate did late Thursday night to pass its funding bill without ICE and Border Patrol.  However, unlike Republican Senators the Democrats had Senator Chris Coons in the lobby, even though the Senate had recessed Friday, to be the one and only Senator to oppose the bill and cause it to die for lack of unanimity.

The Democrats want to make sure that ICE and Border Patrol are defunded.  They will not stop with this agenda in order to appease their hard left political base.

How long will a few Republican US Senators continue to oppose the Standing Filibuster when faced with Democrats’ unrelenting, unanimous disdain for law enforcement and the public safety of all Americans?

GOP Senators must unite to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and approve the SAVE America Act through deployment of a Reconciliation Bill and Standing Filibuster.

The US Senate may not be back in session until April 13, 2026 but now is the time to respond to this while the issue is hot.

Florida Family Association has prepared an email for you to send to express concern and urge GOP US Senators to deploy Reconciliation Bill and Standing Filibuster to pass DHS funding and SAVE America Act..
